Guidebook for our guests

Here are our favorite PLACES TO GO and THINGS TO DO in our REDWOODED WORLD…

TRAILS, BEACHES, and SWIMMING HOLES in the MAJESTIC REDWOODS:

*FERN  CANYON (about an hour N of us), is an exquisite day trippin’  hike…advance reservations are needed. It is probably one of our finest  crown jewels!

*RUSS PARK (15 min. away) in Ferndale is a place where you can both  meander &/or get in some cardio while basking and soaking in the  beauty and healing vibes of the redwoods.

*CENTERVILLE BEACH (20-25 min. W of your location), perfect for walking the dogs, bon fires, and strolling next to the ocean.

*TRINIDAD, PATRICK’S POINT, and MOONSTONE BEACH (about an hour N of us) all eye candy and exquisite sights to behold.

*ROHNER PARK (5 min. away - you can walk to it) it is an extension of  our woods with well maintained trails and is pet friendly..

*SWIMMER’S DELIGHT, PAMPLIN GROVE, and GRIZLEY CREEK (1/2 hour E on Hwy  36) for swimming, picnicking, kicking it in the sun on the riverbanks.

*AVENUE OF THE GIANTS (20 min. S)  a min. 2 hour round trip drive thru…picnic spots & swimming holes abound.

*THE SKYWALK in Sequoia Park Zoo (30 min. N in Eureka) A beauty full walk in the redwoods with bird’s eye views of the forest.

We have Maps & Brochures available in your space for your guidance and inspiration.

Here are some of our favorite local SPECIAL EVENTS and GOTTA DO’S:

You won’t want to miss the ARTS, MARKETS, and FAIRIES...

Friday nights in Eureka are AWESOME! Local artists of all kinds show up  with their paintings, sculptures, food, music, and talents!

THE  Monthly Saturday night ART's ALIVE is AMAZING - Eureka Old Towne stores  and boutiques open their doors and the town comes, well…totally ALIVE!  :-)

Then on Tuesday's (May through October) there's an extraordinary FARMER’S MARKET in Fortuna (3:30-6)!

There is also a huge FARMER’S MARKET on Saturday's in Arcata (10-4! :-)

None  should be missed if you are here in Humboldt and have the time and  inclination for real authentic treats that scream BEAUTY and TALENT!!!!

And check out the ARCHITECTURE:

In EUREKA there is the CARSON MANSION, countless PAINTED LADIES, and incredible MURALS on our commercial buildings

In FERNDALE there is the GINGERBREAD MANSION, THE VICTORIAN VILLAGE INN,  SHAW HOUSE INN, and the FERNDALE CEMETERY to gawk and marvel at…and  countless others in the expansive and fertile  farmlands.

In ARCATA just drive up and down the streets and you will see countless works of art and history.

In TRINIDAD there is the LIGHTHOUSE, and on the meandering side roads  you will see numerous unique and ARTSY HOMES nestled in the trees.

Here are some IMPORTANT CREATURE COMFORTS to roam around with:

Be sure to pack for all weather opportunities while exploring in Humboldt County’s diverse terrains …

LAYERING is your friend.

There is a saying in Humboldt County:

"If you don't like the weather here, just wait 20 minutes."

There  is a lot of truth to that so make sure you bring things you can layer  with...vests and jackets, long and short sleeved tees, scarves and  shawls, leggings and shorts, socks and sandals...you get the point.

Make  sure you also bring things like flip-flops, sunglasses, baseball caps,  straw hats, beanies, and gloves that can cover your ears, warm your  neck, shade your eyes, and keep your hands warm.

And remember to take blankets and towels for the beaches and rivers!

Personally  I like to carry a tote in my car with all these things so that I am  always prepared for whatever the next 20 minutes of our changing weather  dictates!

We so hope you have enough time to get to ENJOY much of the magic of our  incredible and special offerings of nature, creativity, and rich  historical landmarks that we get to call home…we WELCOME you! :-)
